About us
Passion, support and accountability
Inbound Aviation was established in Victoria in 2012 to prepare the next generation of pilots for Australian airline flying. With training facilities and an aircraft fleet in Mangalore and Melbourne, the entire team is highly motivated and driven by a desire to help students achieve success by providing professional and personal support.
With our highly experienced instructors, students benefit from exceptional mentoring from those who know all aspects of the industry and can share everything new pilots need to know to be airline ready.
The Managing Director, Tom Gollan, works tirelessly to ensure the training delivered at Inbound Aviation prepares pilots in every possible way, demanding the highest levels of professionalism. Like many pilots, Tom always wanted to fly. From a young age he watched his grandfather fly himself around Australia for work and wanted to follow in his footsteps. Tom toiled away making pizzas as a teenager to pay for his first gliding experience and has been devoted to flying ever since.
His mission is to give those who want to be pilots a clear and rewarding pathway to a career in aviation. Tom wants to make sure the next generation are ready and taken care of in the pursuit of their passion.

Meet the team
Tom Gollan | Managing Director
As the owner and head of operations, Tom runs the business, mentors instructors, liaises with stakeholders and CASA, and assesses students’ flying tests. With twenty years in aviation, from gliding as a teenager to flying in Europe early in his career, Tom returned to Australia to fly jets in his twenties, for a regional operator and then both major airlines.
He appreciated having these opportunities to accelerate his learning at such a young age and wanted to offer the same to the next generation with a passion for aviation. While working as an airline pilot, Tom ensures Inbound Aviation prepares everyone who could be his co-pilot one day with the critical skills needed for First Officer success.
“It’s incredible to see young people walk in the door on day one, and then see the people they are when they graduate,” Tom says. “Seeing them develop into accomplished, well-equipped young pilots—that’s what drives us and makes our whole team proud. If you know what you want and where you want to be, we’re the place for you.”
Kait Carracher | Flight School Operations and Administration Manager
Kait looks after everyone who’s interested in learning at Inbound Aviation; those who become students and then working cadets. She provides information about our courses and accommodation, manages enrolments and cadetships, and helps students apply for Centrelink funding.
With a passion for efficient procedures and an eye for detail, when students need admin support, Kait paves the way to a solution.
“There’s a family vibe; you’re not just a number,” Kait says. “It’s really satisfying to watch our budding pilots achieve their milestones and progress. They can come in with one flight and leave as a fully qualified First Officer, with a job ready for them when they finish.”
Anna Hammond | Operations Manager
Anna has worked in flight schools for a decade, in Australia and China. She manages the theory and scheduling for all Inbound Aviation courses, maintains Registered Training Organisation standards, and supports students’ welfare.
Having worked as a nurse for years prior to aviation, Anna is highly attuned to trainees’ wellbeing while they’re far from family, initiating one-on-one chats and nurturing them throughout their professional and personal journey.
“We have a small family dynamic of encouragement, and everyone’s doors are always open,” Anna says. “I really enjoy seeing students achieve their dreams. Their achievement is my success.”
James Costa| Safety Manager
James is a pilot for a major Australian airline and a safety specialist. He brings nineteen years of aviation experience to Inbound Aviation, thirteen of those in airlines.
“The people running Inbound Aviation have a lot of airline experience, so they’ve been there and done that, in terms of where students are going,” he says.
James manages all aspects of safety—from assessing risk to assuring quality and maintaining compliance—and cultivates a culture that gives both students and instructors the confidence to raise concerns for the utmost flying safety.
